The Governor’s Citizenship Medals recognize Colorado’s people and organizations who are making extraordinary efforts to strengthen our communities, provide opportunity to fellow Coloradans, and move our state forward. To honor the work of these individuals and organizations, and to inspire future generations to serve the interests of the state, former Governor John Hickenlooper created the Colorado Governor’s Citizenship Medal (CGCM). The CGCM recognizes individuals and organizations from diverse sectors that make enduring impacts on the strength and vitality of the State of Colorado. Under Executive Order B 2015-010, the Medals shall be awarded annually, by the sitting Governor.
In 2023, Governor Jared Polis will award the sixth annual Emerging Leader Medal to a current high school student or recent high school graduate who has demonstrated extraordinary leadership and impact within their high school and broader community. We are looking for representation from across the state of Colorado (geographic and socioeconomic). Nominees must be residents of Colorado. The Boettcher Foundation has partnered with CiviCO again to help recruit and select the top nominations for the Governor’s Office.
Please feel free to share the link below and nominate qualified young leaders in your network. We are still seeking nominations.
Note: We ask that nominators do not inform nominees that they have been nominated. Selected winners will be notified personally by the Governor’s Office by early October.
