From the Nominator: Kristy is a hardworking lead-counselor at Castle View High School. Kristy's passion and relatability helps her engage and inspire the students on her caseload to help them develop skills and motivation to overcome obstacles. In addition to excelling in her regular counseling duties she goes above and beyond in her willingness to advocate for a better, more effective school counseling program her at Castle View. She was a key component in leading our school to becoming a Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP), and continues to fight for equality, and fairness for her students and her team. 


 The Colorado Council for High School and College Relations (CCHS/CR) seeks to recognize high school counselors who are going above and beyond and who warrant recognition. CCHS/CR is proud of the work that you do to support students with social/emotional needs, college and career goals, and crisis response, and we want to recognize individuals doing exceptional work in the day-to-day of a school setting. Thank you for taking the time to nominate an individual for this honor.

2026 Nomination eligibility and criteria:
  • Candidate must be a high school counselor
  • Multiple nominations for the same person (by different people) are accepted
  • Current year award recipients are not eligible until the next calendar year
Award Recipients will receive:
    1. $100 gift card
    2. A certificate of recognition from Colorado Council - Counselor of the Month Committee
    3. Highlight/spotlight on our website, social media page, and/or email newsletter
