The Coordinator of Admissions leads the development and management of the Pikes Peak State College office of admissions team. The admissions office is responsible for college application processing, residency classification, and international student regulatory compliance. This position manages and supervises admissions office staff and acts as the college’s Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) for international student regulatory compliance.

The college offers the possibility for alternative work arrangements such as flexplace, remote work, or flextime scheduling upon completion of training and department needs.

Minimum Qualifications

Completed Bachelor degree from a regionally accredited institution OR completed Associate degree with two years of professional level experience performing similar duties to those described for this position OR four years professional level experience performing similar duties to those described for this position.
Two years professional level experience in admissions, international admissions, recruitment, financial aid, student records, advising, or another students services department in education.
One year of direct professional level supervisory experience.
Professional level experience is defined by the Colorado Division of Human Resources: A position that involves the exercise of discretion, analytical skill, judgment, personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, or sharing an organized body of knowledge. Colorado revised statute (C.R.S. 24-50-135(1) allows colleges to exempt positions from the State Personnel Classified System that are determined to be professional level work.

Preferred Qualifications

Three or more years of professional level experience in admissions, recruitment, financial aid, student records, advising, or another student services department in education.
One year of experience as a designated school official (DSO) for international students.
Demonstrated experience using Banner or other student information system.
One year of demonstrated experience evaluating and assessing processes to improve the customer experience and meet goals using reporting tools and data analysis.
Salary range is $50,000.00 to $54,000.00 annual gross. For full consideration, all application materials must be received by 4:00 p.m. on February 10, 2023. Applications accepted until position is filled.

Essential Functions

Admissions Operations Management

The Coordinator of Admissions develops, executes, reports on, and evaluates services, processes, procedures, and workflow performed by the admissions office and admissions staff to include application processing, selective program admission, residency classification/reclassification, and application related communication with students. Evaluating operational effectiveness and recommending changes that better serve students and the college and adapt to new laws and regulations are essential in this role. The admissions office utilizes CRM (Ellucian Recruit) and SIS (Ellucian Banner) software for all admissions functions and this position is responsible for the maintenance and development of admissions processes that use these tools. The coordinator uses technology to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with federal, state, system, and college regulations related to college admissions. Collaborates with academic programs that have selective admission requirements to develop processes and procedures for selective admission.

Supervision

This position supervises, trains, evaluates, and coaches admissions staff.

Tuition Classification

The Coordinator of Admissions serve as the primary tuition classification officer for the college by interpreting and applying state residency law, CCCS residency policy, and PPSC residency processes to initial residency classification and requests for reclassification.

PDSO

This position serves as the Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) for international student admissions and enrollment. The PDSO is responsible for student and college compliance with federal regulations as established by the Department of Homeland Security. It develops, directs, and organizes all international student related processes, procedures, and workflows related to international student compliance and enrollment. The PDSO helps prospective international students apply for admission, successfully transition to college in the US, and helps current students avoid problems by advising them on how to follow required processes so they can comply with federal regulations and complete their program of study.

Additional Responsibilities

This position serves on college-wide and department teams and committees as requested. Attends pertinent professional development workshops/conferences as timing and funding permits. Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

General Duties, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Cultural competence and demonstrated evidence, understanding, and commitment to the concepts of diversity, multiculturalism, and their application in the workplace.

Knowledge of student and enrollment services in higher education, especially student admissions.

Knowledge of international student enrollment services, including federal regulations governing F1 & M1 visa students.

Strong working knowledge of federal and state laws as they apply to admissions, international student admissions, and tuition classification.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Strong demonstrated experience using a student information system like Ellucian Banner.

Experience using a higher education CRM like Ellucian Recruit.
Ability to utilize Microsoft Office applications to design, create, and maintain forms, reference materials, databases, and training resource materials.

Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects to meet necessary deadlines.
