There are many resources available now to parents and students regarding the college search and application process. Where does one begin? With the high school counselor! They have a wealth of knowledge and experience and can help negotiate this exciting process. They can help identify colleges that are a good "fit" with students' interests and abilities. In addition to the counselor, here are some other valuable resources:
Council Publications
Counselor Resource Guide
This guide book is written and compiled by high school counselors and college admission and financial aid officers. Updated annually, it provides counselors and college admission officers with current information on academic advising, the college application process, financial aid, internet resources, letters of recommendation, special programs in Colorado, and more.

Planning, Applying, and Paying for College
- The Colorado Council Volunteerism & Community Service Scholarship is awarded to Colorado high school seniors who will attend a Colorado college/university within the State of Colorado.
- CollegeInvest, a non-profit division of The Colorado Department of Education, offers scholarship and financial assistance opportunities to help students fund a college education.
- The fourth edition of the Directory of Colorado Pre-Collegiate Services, brought to you by College In Colorado and CCHS/CR, has been expanded to include not only comprehensive listings of pre-collegiate services, but also key information provided by various pre-collegiate stakeholders to promote college access and success for all Colorado students.
- CollegeInColorado.org This site was established by the State of Colorado with the help of Colorado high school counselors and college admission officers to provide parents and students with planning for college, applying to college, and paying for college.
College Opportunity Fund (COF) What is COF? The College Opportunity Trust Fund (COF), created by the Colorado Legislature, provides a stipend to eligible undergraduate students. The stipend pays a portion of your total in-state tuition when you attend a Colorado public institution or a participating private institution. Eligible undergraduate students must apply, be admitted and enroll at a participating institution. Both new and continuing students are eligible for the stipend.
Qualifying students may use the stipend for eligible undergraduate classes. The stipend is paid on a per credit hour basis to the institution at which the student is enrolled. The credit-hour amount will be set annually by the General Assembly.
