The following institutions, organizations and individuals are eligible for membership.  The Executive Committee shall determine eligibility voting status of all institutions seeking Council membership.  All levels of membership have annual dues (see below).

K-12 Schools

A.  Public and charter schools: Any school operated by a school district within the State of Colorado.

B.  Private Schools: Any private or parochial school, whose main campus is in Colorado, and which is owned and operated by a duly recognized corporation or organization authorized by the State of Colorado for the purpose of educating people and accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools or a recognized agency approved by the Executive Committee.

Institutions of Higher Learning

A.  Any two-year junior or community college operated by the State of Colorado and accredited by the North Central Association offering associate degrees.

B.  Any college or university operated by the State of Colorado and accredited by the North Central Association offering baccalaureate or higher degrees.

C.  Any two- or four-year college or university granting associate, baccalaureate or higher degrees, whose credits transfer to Colorado Council member colleges and universities and are accredited by one of the following: North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, New England Association of Colleges and Schools, Northwest Association of Colleges and Schools, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools or the Western Association of Colleges and Schools. These institutions of higher learning must operate a campus in Colorado.

Associate Membership

The Colorado Council also provides associate membership (non-voting) for those organizations or individuals whose purpose is to assist Colorado students in the transition from high school to college, but who are not in themselves institutions of learning.  Associate members are welcome to attend all regular meetings of the Executive Committee as well as the annual conference, and receive the minutes of regular meetings.  Associate members may also receive an updated list of Colorado high school counselors and their addresses each year at a nominal cost. Associate membership does not offer inclusion in the college description section of the Handbook, does not offer voting privileges, and does not offer inclusion in the Day/Night programs.

Membership Dues

High School annual membership dues are based on student enrollment.  The following is the fee structure:

501-1500                 $25.00
1501 or greater        $35.00

College and university annual dues are based on student enrollment plus a $150.00 fee to be included in the Colorado Collegiate Handbook (up to 4 pages).

Associate Member annual dues are a flat rate of $20.00 per year.

 

Members of the Council agree to abide by the ethical practices as described in the National Association for College Admission Counseling's (NACAC) Statement of Principals of Good Practice. This statement may be found in its entirety at www.nacac.com/spgp.html

Membership Application

The Colorado Council welcomes applications from prospective new members who meet the criteria listed above.  To be considered for membership please complete and submit the appropriate membership application.  The Executive Committee will review your application at the next monthly meeting.
