Counselor workshops, held at college and universities across Colorado each fall are a great opportunity for high school counselors and admissions representatives from colleges and universities to come together in the spirit of sharing knowledge and to recharge professional relationships. Check us out this year for an all-new schedule, which includes short informative and better structured updates from all CCHS/CR member colleges and universities, member organizations, as well as from State of Colorado Department of Education.

Before you register, please be sure that the Key Contact for your organization has added all staff members to your school's profile. If you are unsure who the Key Contact(s) are for your school, please contact taracoloradocouncil@gmail.com.

To add additional staff members to your school's profile, Key Contacts must log in, then click on My Profile.  Next, hover over the grey My Profile tab, then select Your Organization  >Individual Profiles  >Create Linked Profile.  We recommend using using an email address for username.

*Each college or university will have 3 minutes, cut down from 4 minutes in previous years. Since the basic college profile is included in the Council Handbook, we are asking each representative to address these three questions during their presentation:
  • What is NEW and shiny on campus?  (New majors, new buildings, new programs, etc.)
  • Your biggest or best academic support program for students that may need additional support. (i.e., your TRiO program, first gen supports, tutoring centers, etc.)
  • Do you have a national or local reputation for something? (Best brewing program? Highest starting salaries? Best college to support former foster youth? Equestrian programs? Etc.)

**We will be holding panel sessions in the afternoon to facilitate more conversation between the higher ed institutions and high school colleagues across the desk. All college and university representatives attending the workshop will be asked to be present during this time.  Schools will be broken up in to four breakout rooms based on school type and counselors will have the opportunity to visit with two groupings during the afternoon sessions.  We hope you take this time to give additional updates as well as discuss topics such as; admission requirements, holistic review, best practices for high school visits, and much more!  Counselors - this is your opportunity to engage in conversation and ask those burning questions.  This activity has been added to the agenda this year based on your request for more constructive interaction at the workshops!
