About Us
The Colorado Council on High School & College Relations is a volunteer member organization comprised of Colorado high school counselors and college admission staff who work together to help educate and assist students in achieving their higher educational goals.
Volunteers collaborate to provide unique activities and services including:

- Hosting over 70 college information programs at high schools throughout the state each fall attended by representatives from both in-state and out-of-state colleges
- Awarding $1,250 in-state college scholarships for eligible high school seniors
- Hosting 6 counselor update workshops each fall at area colleges to ensure high school counselors have the most recent admission and financial aid information
- Counselor of the Month recognition that, in collaboration with the Colorado Department of Higher Education, identifies and honors local high school counselors who are a model to others in their profession
The Council's regular business is conducted by an elected Executive Committee which consists of a President, Past President, President Elect, Secretary, and Treasurer. In addition, the Committee includes 12 representatives from the following constituencies: one representing the universities, one representing the four-year state colleges, one representing the junior or community colleges, one collegiate representative at-large; and 8 representatives from the secondary schools. The secondary school representatives are elected from each of the seven geographical districts and represent schools in these districts. The eighth representative is selected from the private high school sector in Colorado.

Our History & Purpose
The Colorado Council on High School/College Relations (a.k.a., "The Colorado Council") was created on March 11, 1949, by a small group of innovative high school counselors and college admission directors dedicated to help Colorado students with the transition from high school to college. This organization would develop over time to become so successful in its delivery of information and services to parents, students, high school counselors and admission officers that it has become a model for other states.
Specifically, the purpose of The Colorado Council, as outlined in our bylaws, is:
- to foster and encourage volunteer cooperation between collegiate institutions, secondary schools, organizations and individuals that promote education within the State of Colorado;
- to promote ethical standards of conduct in the relationships of personnel in both collegiate institutions and secondary schools;
- to provide assistance in the development and maintenance of a continuous educational guidance program from junior high/middle school through college;
- to serve as the collection and dissemination agency for information pertinent to colleges and high schools such as requirements for collegiate admission, information about Colorado colleges and universities, transfer of credit between Colorado institutions of higher learning, vocational and career information, scholarships and other types of financial aid;
- to promote and encourage research and evaluation of factors involved in the transition of students from high schools to institutions of higher learning and of students transferring from one institution of higher learning to another;
- to provide an annual forum for college and secondary school personnel to discuss issues and trends and to promote professional relationships;
- to provide scholarships, as funds are available, to eligible high school seniors who plan to enroll at one of the member Colorado collegiate institutions.
